Seven Good Reasons to Pray
Sometimes we get so caught up with work, studies and all the other activities that occupy our minds, so much so that we forget to pray. We all know prayer is communication with God, but does God really hear us when we present our issues and burdens to Him? Why does God want us to communicate with Him? These are the questions I often get asked but let me share with you seven good reasons why you would want to get down on your knees and pray!
1. Praise
Ps 7:17 I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.
2. Thanks
Ps 105:1 O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. 2 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.
3. Confession
Joshua 7:19 And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me. 20
4. Intercession
Isaiah 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
5. Petition
Luke 11:12-13 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
6. Silence
1 Kings 19:12-13 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
Isaiah 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
7. Commitment
Psalm 37:3-5 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
